Father Stephen Curry, O.S.A., Ed.D., was born and raised in the suburbs of Philadelphia and is the youngest of 14 children. As a firm believer in the value of education, he earned an associate degree in business management from Delaware County Community College and a bachelor of science in accounting, with a minor in philosophy, from Villanova University.
Father Curry completed a Master of Divinity from Washington Theological Union and a doctoral degree in education leadership at Seton Hall University. His dissertation was on “The Student Augustinian Values Institute: Assessing Its Impact of Enhancing the Understanding and Experience of the Augustinian Core Values of Veritas, Unitas and Caritas Upon Students in Augustinian Secondary Schools.”
Having a passion for the Hispanic people and their cultures, he also studied Spanish in Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Argentina and Chile.
Father Curry entered the Augustinian Order in 1989 and was ordained a priest in 1996. He has dedicated most of his ministry to education. He has served at St. Augustine’s School, in Lawrence, Massachusetts; Malvern Prep School, in Malvern, Pennsylvania; Our Mother of Good Counsel Church, in Staten Island, New York; Monsignor Bonner High School, in Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania; St. Augustin Prep School, in Richland, New Jersey; St. Rita of Cascia High School, in Chicago; and Villanova University, in Villanova, Pennsylvania.
He formerly held positions as director of Augustinian mission and ministry, board of director, department chair of world languages, lecturer, academic adviser, parochial vicar and campus minister.
Father Curry enjoys helping others as an Augustinian friar and is proud to be a part of Merrimack College.
