Milestones inside and out!
At the Volpe Expansion Project, work continued in the existing Volpe Center to prepare for the new view boxes. The structural steel contractor installed reinforcing steel to the existing block wall and the new windows will be cut out next week in between hockey games. Plumbers, electricians and sprinkler contractors continued to do their rough work at the new lobby and concession area. The masons hit a major milestone this week, completing the block work along the new rink so steel can be placed for the elevated viewing surface. The new electrical rough in for the new rink LED lighting started this week. The construction team was able to place 181 yards of concrete. The next slab placement is scheduled for Tuesday, March 5th, which will finish the slab placement for the sports medicine area.
At the Student Residences Project, rough inspections began this week, which is an exciting milestone at any construction project. Building 1B had its rough electrical inspection on Friday and if all goes as planned, next week the building inspector will allow the drywall process to begin. Building 1C is not far behind now that the electrical installation has begun and the plumbers and sprinkler contractor are finishing up. Windows were delivered to the site for Building 2 this week, so the water proofing process can begin. Plywood went on the roof of Building 1A, which now is almost completely framed. The most important milestone of the week was certainly finishing up the foundation for the last building so underground plumbing can soon begin.
