O’Brien Center for Career Development

Enlist the help of others:

Contact, friends, family, former coworkers and professional associations in your industry, people at your church and organizations you volunteer with. Depending on their positions, they may be able to hire you or refer you to others that may be aware of opportunities.

Volunteer in your community:

They are many agencies and non profits looking for volunteers. All types of people from various industries volunteer outside of working full time. There are also companies that sponsor events or donate heavily to organizations of their choice.  Volunteering is an opportunity for you to meet people who can act as a cheerleader and a resource for your professional development. Look within your community for volunteer opportunities - it could lead you to a job.
