The Campaign for Merrimack College

UNDERSTANDING TOGETHER FOR GOOD, THE CAMPAIGN FOR MERRIMACK COLLEGE

Why are we having this Campaign?

  • To ignite the institutional pride and aspirations of the Merrimack community
  • To raise $50 million in new investments, securing a promising future for Merrimack
  • To engage our students, alumni, parents, and friends, and develop Merrimack’s next generation of volunteer and philanthropic leaders

What is our Campaign goal, and how are we doing?

  • Our Campaign goal is $50 million — the largest in the College’s history. As of October 2016, we have raised more than $28 million in gifts and pledges.

How long will the Campaign last?

  • We expect the Campaign to end in 2019.

What will the money from this Campaign be used for?

  • 42% - Scholarships, Faculty Support, Mission Opportunities
  • 20% - Academic Facilities
  • 14% - The Merrimack Fund and The Warrior Fund
  • 12% - Athletics
  • 8%   - Sponsored Research and Programs
  • 4%   - Academic Success Center

The Campaign targets these six overarching areas:

  • Innovating for Good:
We will transform academic support services at Merrimack College with a new Academic Success Center. By providing new office space, study areas, and centralized services for our Compass and Promise Programs, Math and Writing Centers, and other academic enrichment programs, we will advance collaboration between students, academic coaches, counselors, advisors, and mentors.
  • Building for Good:
To provide more classroom, study, lab, and studio space for our growing student population, we will develop a new Academic District in the North Campus encompassing three buildings. Prominent in the new District will be a three-story, 50,000-square-foot academic pavilion that will house Merrimack’s Girard School of Business and provide flexible learning environments and event space for the College.
  • Competing for Good:
To compete at the highest level, we’re investing in a state-of-the-art Division 1 Athletic District for our student athletes, coaches, and fans—helping to build our brand and cultivate champions…in the classroom, in competition, and in the community. Key developments include enhanced fields for our varsity, club, and intramural sports, a 2,500-seat stadium, and track and field facilities.
  • Standing Up for Good:
At Merrimack College, Catholic Augustinian values still guide our actions. That is why we plan to expand service learning and mission opportunities, support faculty excellence, foster research initiatives, and advance academic programs that inspire, engage, and enlighten. We will also increase our scholarship offerings to ensure that more deserving students, from all backgrounds, have the opportunity to achieve their full potential at Merrimack.
  • The Merrimack Fund:
Annual giving is a meaningful way for donors of all levels to strengthen the future of Merrimack College. Every gift to The Merrimack Fund will count toward the Together for Good Campaign.
  • Sponsored Programs:
Sponsored programs will also count toward our Campaign and support our overall goal to bolster Merrimack’s reputation and strengthen our value proposition and competitive position.

Standing Up for Good is a focal priority for this Campaign. What is the continued Augustinian Presence at Merrimack College?

Since our founding in 1947 by the Order of St. Augustine to provide educational opportunities to local soldiers returning home from World War II, Merrimack College has upheld the Catholic Augustinian values of scholarship, social justice, and service to others. Merrimack College currently has five Augustinian priests on our Board of Trustees and five on our teaching staff. Our students are involved in mission trips, service learning, and are active volunteers in the community. Our signature service day is Mack Gives Back, when members of the college community spend time at service sites including schools, farms, veterans’ service organizations, municipal agencies, and non-profits.

How can I make a gift?

You may wish to designate your gift to one of our Campaign priorities or make an unrestricted gift, allowing us to apply your gift to our greatest needs. Gifts can be made in cash, pledges payable over (up to) five years, securities, or a planned gift designation. You may make a gift online or contact Victoria Landry, Development Associate for more information.

How does The Merrimack Fund impact the Campaign?

The Merrimack Fund encourages alumni, parents, and friends to begin donating regularly to Merrimack and experience the impact of giving back. Every gift to The Merrimack Fund will count toward the Together for Good Campaign. Throughout this historic Campaign, we seek to raise $7 million in annual fund support and continue to enhance alumni engagement at Merrimack.
