Assistant Professor
Utah State University
B.A., Communication and Media, 2012
What is your current job and what do you like about that position?

I am currently an assistant professor at Utah State University. I enjoy the intellectual freedom of being a professor and researcher. I also enjoy the flexible schedule it offers. I also love working with students and helping them learn more about social issues through Communication Studies.

“The coursework at Merrimack pushed me to improve my writing and thinking skills which was invaluable when I went forward with my education.”

How did your Merrimack experiences (coursework, internships, research with faculty, student club leadership, etc.) prepare you for that work?

Looking back, I think Merrimack prepared me well for my Master’s program. The coursework at Merrimack pushed me to improve my writing and thinking skills which was invaluable when I went forward with my education. The biggest thing that helped me was the kindness from the faculty at Merrimack. I wasn’t the smartest or most academically gifted, but I felt welcomed and valued in the department. It helped me gain the confidence to go to graduate school.

Do you have any particularly fond memories of Merrimack to share?

Most of my memories are of playing on the baseball team. I remember getting out of team lifts and practices late and sprinting to my classes (which is funnier looking back than it felt at the time.
