Spiritual Development and Pastoral Care
Campus ministry gathers with members of the Merrimack College community to celebrate various sacraments, described below.
Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
A special invitation is extended to those who are interested in becoming Catholic or completing their Sacraments of Initiation into the Catholic Church (Baptism, Eucharist, Confirmation). The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is the process of preparation used at Merrimack College. Others on campus who desire to deepen their faith commitment as Catholics are also welcomed to the initiation sessions.
In 2017, 12 Merrimack students took part in the sacramental preparation process: Patricia Busa, Demitria Perrin, Kenney Tran, Jullian Battista, Maura Doyle, Timothy Hare, McGee Hines, Christina Jackson, Madelyn Kerber, Desire Metayer-Smith, Brielle O’Brien and Isabelle Palmer. All received the Sacrament of Confirmation in the Collegiate Church of Christ the Teacher.
Please watch the video below describing the Rite of Christian Initiation experience.
College life — and life in general — can be quite stressful at times. All campus ministers are available to talk with you about anything, spiritual or otherwise. Please do not hesitate to drop in our office at any time.
Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession)
Confessions are heard after 5 p.m. Sunday Mass in the sacristy of Our Mother of Good Counsel Chapel on the second floor in Austin Hall or by appointment with an Augustinian friar on campus.
Spiritual direction is available for those who would like to explore more deeply their faith journey or who simply want to speak one-on-one with a campus minister.
