Position Description: The School of Health Sciences at Merrimack College is seeking applicants for the position of adjunct instructor to teach summer courses for the Masters of Athletic Training program.
Fundamental Skills in Athletic Training
This integrated lecture laboratory course will focus on essential athletic training skills necessary for active participation in the patient care setting. The primary focus will be on injury prevention concepts, interventions and techniques.
Emergency Management & Prevention
This integrated lecture laboratory course will provide a comprehensive approach to the identification of risk factors, preparation of emergency action plans and the recognition and care of emergency medical conditions.
Functional Clinical Anatomy (**)
This course will focus on clinically relevant anatomy designed to increase the student’s knowledge and exposure to the structural and functional components which include; musculoskeletal origins, insertions, actions, and innervations. The function of the skeletal, articular muscular and nervous systems will be covered through an advanced clinical approach
Clinical Experience & Decision Making I
This course will provide a means to assess and develop competence in the athletic training clinical integration proficiencies.
Qualifications: Master’s degree in Athletic Training or related area, Ph.D. preferred. College teaching experience preferred, although related work experience may be considered. NATA member in good standing, current BOC certification and Massachusetts State License as an Athletic Trainer.
