Position Overview: The Department of Political Science in the School of Liberal Arts at Merrimack College seek an adjunct instructor to teach one section of our POL 1100 Politics of the United States in Fall 2019. The class will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 pm - 3:15 pm.
The course offers an introduction to the American political system. The course examines the Constitutional basis of American politics, the national institutions that are involved in decision-making and public debate (for example, the Presidency and bureaucracy, the Federal Courts, the Congress, political parties, the media), issues that Americans argue about (rights and liberties, economic benefits, foreign policy), and the processes by which those arguments are conducted and resolved (campaigns and elections, administrative action, legislation, lobbying, publicity). The course is required for all Political Science majors and minors, and is also taken by many other students for general education credit.
Qualifications: Masters degree required, Ph.D. preferred. College teaching experience preferred.
