Adjunct Lecturer of Music

Position Overview:  The department of Visual and Performance Arts at Merrimack College seeks an Adjunct Lecturer to teach one undergraduate course for non-music majors, FAA 1310: The Nature of Music: The Art of Listening, in the Spring 2018 semester.  FAA 1310 is a course designed to introduce students to the art of active listening to music. A multiplicity of musical styles and genres are employed in the course as means toward the ultimate goal of developing deeper, more aware listening habits in the students’ daily life. The course includes exploration of western classical genres, including opera and the symphony; popular styles like jazz and rock; and folk musics of the world, including the Americas.

Qualifications:  Ph.D. in Musicology preferred, A.B.D. considered; evidence of excellence in classroom teaching at the college level.
