Position Overview: Under the direction of the Dean of Students, the Assistant Dean for Graduate and International Students will be responsible for the oversight of the graduate and international student experience. The Assistant Dean will coordinate the collaborative efforts of various departments on campus including undergraduate and graduate Admissions, the Provost’s Office and academic deans, as well as administrative and student services offices to provide the best possible student experience for our graduate and international students. In addition, the Assistant Dean will serve as the senior College officer for student immigration compliance.



  • In collaboration with the Assistant Dean of Wellness and the Assistant Dean of Student Engagement, ensure graduate and international students are afforded the opportunities to develop themselves academically, personally and relationally.
  • Develop a strategic plan and vision to align with the College’s Agenda for Distinction and promote the guidance and support of our graduate and international students to provide the best possible student experience.
  • Manage the operations of the International Student Support Office including all immigration and compliance processes, academic support for international students and all related programming and oversight.
  • Oversee the Graduate and International student orientation programs, the Graduate Student Senate, all student organizations and programming efforts for graduate and international students.
  • Chair the Graduate Student Experience Committee and oversee all graduate student communication, calendars and coordinate the efforts of all of the individual school departments.
  • Indirectly supervise the Off-Campus Housing Coordinator to secure housing for graduate students. Develop a plan for graduate student housing on campus.
  • Indirectly supervise the Coordinator of Programming and Student Affinity Groups to provide graduate student programming and assistance with the development of clubs and organizations.
  • Act as the CARE liaison for issues and concerns regarding graduate and international student support.
  • Represent the department on the Senior Leadership Team,  appointed presidential committees, and other college committees and collaborative efforts
  • Ability to foster positive relations with key campus partners, including Admission, Provost’s Office, Academic Departments, and Student Affairs.
  • Ensure departmental initiatives are evaluated regularly through thoughtful assessment practices.   



  • Master’s degree in higher education or other relevant field required.
  • Must have at least 5-8 years of progressive experience in Student Affairs within a college or university setting, with prior experience as a Director and prior experience as a SEVP Designated School Office.
  • Knowledge of best practices for graduate student life.
  • Excellent staff supervision and development skills.
  • Understanding of the application of state and federal laws and policies (FERPA, Title IX, Clery, etc…)
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal and multicultural skills with the ability to work collaboratively.
  • Flexibility and willingness to work outside of normal business hours and extended days with the ability to juggle competing priorities effectively.
