Position Overview:  The Assistant Dean assists the Dean of the School of Science and Engineering in strategic development and program growth of the School. The Assistant Dean handles the operational and administrative responsibilities related to student recruitment, advising, retention and success for the entire School of Science and Engineering. 


  • Leads in all operational functions related to student recruitment, retention, advising and success of the School of Science and Engineering to ensure the school is meeting goals and objectives efficiently and effectively.
  • Manages Academic Program Managers and conducts performance reviews.
  • Represents the Dean’s office at after hours and weekend events including Accepted Students Day, Homecoming, receptions, etc.
  • Develops, implements, and ensures compliance with internal policies and procedures.
  • Supports the advising system by overseeing the Academic Program Managers to ensure advising, retention and enrollment success (e.g. student services, organizations, tutoring, and advising programs) are administered effectively. 
  • Supports the School of Science and Engineering Center for Academic and Career Advising.
  • Serves as steward of School of Science and Engineering to build and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Serves as liaison with Center for Student Success and Retention Committee, O’Brian Center for Career Development and works with Admissions to organize admitted student day and related events at the School of Science and Engineering.
  • Supports the School of Science and Engineering Center for Academic and Career Advising.
  • Serves as liaison to the campus wide communications team to ensure regular communication of School of Science and Engineering events.
  • Assists with all assessment initiatives for the School of Science and Engineering.
  • Partners with faculty to design and implement student programs, club-related events and activities, and other programming.
  • Assists the Dean of the School of Science and Engineering in strategic development and program growth of the School.
  • Develops Affiliation Agreements with local community colleges and other colleges and university programs.
  • Builds relationships with Alumni. 
  • Attends networking events and participates in advisory committees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


  • Master’s Degree
  • A minimum 5 years of professional related experience. 
  • Strong organizational and operations management skills. 
  • Knowledge and understanding of academic program administration.
  • Leadership, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in using computer technology such as Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge and understanding of engineering and the sciences
