Position Overview:  Reporting to the Senior Associate Director of International Admission, the Assistant Director/Senior Assistant Director of International Admission plans, implements, and administers strategies and recruitment tactics focused on increasing international enrollment at Merrimack College in a designated territory.  The plan includes fostering partnerships with local schools, implementing recruitment and yield events, and creating content and training materials designed to engage Merrimack’s partners, students, families, and secondary school counselors in the effort to recruit qualified students.  
 
While focusing on undergraduate, the Assistant Director/Senior Assistant Director is expected to know the full range of offerings at the College including undergraduate, graduate, online, and special programs.  S/he will work collaboratively with campus colleagues to promote and support international programs and initiatives.  
 
As a member of the admission team, the Assistant Director/Senior Assistant Director provides exceptional customer service to guide students, parents, and school counselors through the application process from prospect to matriculant.  S/he will review and evaluate international student applications from schools outside the U.S., and partner agencies; verify credentials; provide guidance to students who do not meet English Language requirements; and serve as Designated School Official (DSO). 
 
The Assistant Director/Senior Assistant Director position requires a highly motivated, team oriented problem solver able to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, target driven environment.  Familiarity with international education systems, English language proficiency requirements, and the F-1 visa process is required.  Valid driver’s license, U.S. Passport, the willingness and ability to travel extended periods, and work extended hours including evenings and weekends is required. Proficiency in a foreign language required, Arabic, Spanish, or Chinese preferred. SEVP DSO reporting requirements requires U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residence status. 
 
Responsibilities:
  • Plan, implement, and administer strategies and recruitment tactics focused on increasing international enrollment at Merrimack College within a designated territory 
  • Participate in on and off-campus international recruitment and yield activities designed to guide students from prospect to matriculant
  • Working with the Senior Associate Director, create content and training materials designed to engage Merrimack’s partners, students, families, and secondary school counselors in the effort to recruit qualified students
  • While focusing on undergraduate, the position requires knowledge of the full range of offerings at the College including undergraduate, graduate, online, and special programs
  • Provide exceptional customer service to guide students, parents, and school counselors through the application process from prospect to matriculant
  • Review, evaluate and finalize admission decisions on applications from outside of the U.S. and partner agencies
  • Participate in all signature admission events including Academic Preview Day, Open House and Admitted Student Day as well as Welcome Center counselor coverage
  • Work collaboratively with campus colleagues to promote and support international programs and initiatives
  • Serve as Designated School Official (DSO)
Requirements: 
 
• Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree in International Education or a related field preferred.
• Proficiency in a foreign language required.  Arabic, Chinese, or Spanish preferred.
• 2 - 4 years of experience working in international recruitment and admission preferred.
• Familiarity with SEVIS and F-1 student advising required.
• Experience with Slate CRM and applicant management system preferred.
• Experience working, living, and/or studying in a foreign country preferred.
• Ability and willingness to travel abroad independently for extended periods of time
• Valid U.S. Driving license and U.S. Passport.
