Position Overview: The Department of Communication and Media at Merrimack College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning fall 2020. A Ph.D. in-hand in Communication or a related field is preferred, but ABD candidates completing by July 1, 2020 will also be considered.

The successful candidate will have a specialization in Organizational Communication with a potential emphasis in one of the following areas: Environmental Communication, Health Communication, or Identity and Communication. The successful candidate should also demonstrate the experience or ability to teach courses related to Conflict Management Persuasion, Non-Profit Organizing, and/or Leadership and Collaboration.The experience or ability to teach one or more of our core courses (Public Communication, Introduction to Media, Introduction to Communication, Research Inquiry, and Senior Seminar) is also preferred.

The Department of Communication and Media is grounded in the liberal arts tradition. We encourage our students to bring critical awareness to the study of communication, the production of media projects, and their everyday lives. We take seriously interrogations of power and examinations of intersectional systems of oppression, and we embrace and encourage social justice-oriented pedagogies.

Merrimack College has a 3/3 course load for tenure-track faculty.
