Position Overview: The Department of Communication and Media at Merrimack College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Communication position beginning fall 2019. A Ph.D. in-hand in Communication or a related field is preferred, but ABD candidates completing by July 1, 2019 will also be considered.
The successful candidate should demonstrate the experience or ability to teach courses related to public relations, strategic communication, multimedia journalism, and/or social media. The experience or ability to teach one or more of our core courses (Public Communication, Intro to Media, Intro to Communication, Research Inquiry, and Senior Seminar) is also preferred.
The Department of Communication and Media is grounded in the liberal arts tradition. We encourage our students to bring critical awareness to the study of communication, the production of media projects, and their everyday lives. We take seriously interrogations of power and examinations of intersectional systems of oppression, and we embrace and encourage social justice-oriented pedagogies.
