Position Overview: The Girard School of Business at Merrimack College seeks to fill the position of Assistant/Associate Professor (tenure-track) or Assistant/Associate Professor of Practice (non-tenure track) in Sport Management, starting fall 2019.
The Sport Management Program is one of the eight concentrations in the Girard School of Business. The Program started in 2010 with approximately 50 students and now has more than 150 undergraduate majors. The program provides various internship experiences for students to obtain real-world industry experience at sports institutions in the greater Boston area.
We are looking for someone with significant sport industry experience, as well as academic qualifications, to (1) teach courses in the candidate’s area of specialization, (2) mentor students seeking internship and job placement, and (3) foster relationships with sport and related organizations for the benefit of students’ future careers.
The successful candidate will teach undergraduate core courses, specialized electives, and possibly graduate level courses in the Sport Management area. Applicants must show evidence of, or potential for, excellence in teaching; potential to enhance the internship and job opportunities for students through one’s own industry experience and/or professional networks; and commitment to service. Tenure track candidates must also demonstrate strong potential for success in publishing articles in reputable academic journals.

Qualifications: Ph.D. (for tenure track applicants) or MBA (or similar master’s level degree) from an accredited university expected prior to appointment A strong record of, and continuing potential for, quality teaching (as well as scholarly research if hired for a tenure-track position) Significant experience in the sport industry with a strong network
