Assistant/Associate Professor of Health Sciences
Position Overview: The School of Health Sciences at Merrimack College in North Andover, Massachusetts invites applications for tenure-track and non-tenure track faculty positions at the rank of either Assistant or Associate Professor beginning September 1, 2018. We are seeking outstanding faculty members to join our rapidly expanding School that includes new academic programs, expanded facilities, state-of-art equipment, community partnerships, and funded research initiatives from the NIH, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, and more. The School of Health Sciences serves over 550 student majors in five undergraduate programs including Bachelor of Science in Health Science, Public Health, Nutritional Sciences, Exercise Science and Rehabilitation Sciences. The School also has rapidly expanding graduate programs in Health and Wellness Management, Exercise and Sport Sciences, Community Health Education and Athletic Training. In addition, plans are underway to initiate academic programs in areas such as Healthcare Analytics and Healthcare Management over the next year.
The successful candidates will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, advise students, and maintain a productive scholarly agenda in their particular areas of expertise. Particular areas of expertise in teaching and scholarly work are described below.
Exercise Science: The candidate will have an earned doctorate in exercise science, exercise physiology, human performance, or related area of study. The candidate should have an active research agenda in exercise science, physical activity promotion, chronic disease prevention, or related topic.
Nutrition Sciences: The candidate will have an earned doctorate in nutrition or related discipline such as public health with a focus in nutrition. This individual should have an active research agenda in community nutrition, food service, nutrition policy, or related areas. Qualifications: We are looking for teaching-scholars who have a strong desire for an academic appointment focused on advancing knowledge through integrating teaching, research, and service learning. The ability to serve as student mentors and create immersive learning and professional development experiences is a must. Candidates will present strong evidence of successful teaching. Candidates will require a solid record of research productivity and excellent growth potential for conducting independent scholarly research in their area of expertise.
