Associate Director of International Admission

Position Overview: Reporting to the Director of Undergraduate Admission, the Associate Director of International Admission plans, implements, and administers strategies and recruitment tactics focused on increasing international enrollment at Merrimack College. The plan may include fostering partnerships with local schools, implementing recruitment and yield events, creating content and training materials designed to engage Merrimack’s partners, students, families, and secondary school counselors in the effort to recruit qualified students. In addition s/he will work in close collaboration with the International Student Services office to assist in travel and communication related to our partner agencies. While focusing on undergraduate, the Associate Director is expected to know the range of offerings at the College including undergraduate, graduate, online, and special programs. S/he will work collaboratively with campus colleagues to promote and support international programs and initiatives. As a member of the admission team, the Associate Director provides exceptional customer service to guide students, parents, and school counselors through the application process from prospect to matriculant. S/he will review and evaluate international student applications from schools outside the U.S., and partner agencies; verify credentials; provide guidance to students who do not meet English Language requirements; and serve as Designated School Official (DSO).

Responsibilities: Plan, implement, and administer strategies and recruitment tactics focused on increasing international enrollment at Merrimack College. Participate in on and off-campus international recruitment and yield activities designed to guide students from prospect to matriculant. Create content and training materials designed to engage Merrimack’s partners, students, families, and secondary school counselors in the effort to recruit qualified students. While focusing on undergraduate, the position requires knowledge of the full range of offerings at the College including undergraduate, graduate, online, and special programs. Provide exceptional customer service to guide students, parents, and school counselors through the application process from prospect to matriculant Review, evaluate and finalize admission decisions on applications from outside of the U.S. and partner agencies Working collaboratively with members of the International Student Services office, develops and implements policies and procedures to help students through the process from enrolling to matriculated student in the areas of visa support, advising and pre-arrival communication Advocate and assist Enrollment Marketing in the development and implementation of a robust international student communication flow Support the International Student Services office in the planning and implementation of programs and services from orientation through graduation that support the unique needs of international students Participate in all signature admission events including Academic Preview Day, Open House and Admitted Student Day as well as Welcome Center counselor coverage

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree in International Education or a related field preferred.

  • Proficiency in a foreign language required. Arabic, Chinese, or Spanish preferred.
  • 3 - 5 years experience working in international recruitment and admission preferred. 
  • Familiarity with SEVIS and F-1 student advising required.
  • Experience with Slate CRM and applicant management system preferred. 
  • Experience working, living, and/or studying in a foreign country preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to travel abroad independently for extended periods of time 
  • Valid U.S. Driving license and U.S. Passport.
