Position Overview: The School of Health Sciences at Merrimack College is seeking an outstanding and highly motivated faculty member and leader to join our new Nursing Program in the fall of 2020. Oversight of the planning, coordination, and evaluation of all clinical activities related to the nursing undergraduate program is the primary role of this position. A secondary role of this position involves teaching in the undergraduate BSN program. Applications for a non-tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor of Practice, Nursing and Clinical Coordinator beginning September 2020 are now being requested. The ideal candidate should have excellent organizational and communication skills as this position involves serving as liaison to all clinical agencies, nursing faculty, students and other members of the Merrimack College community. Additional roles include assisting the Executive Director of Nursing in providing data for ongoing annual MA Board of Registration in Nursing regulations and CCNE accreditation reports; arranging all group clinical rotations and preceptorships; coordinating agency and clinical faculty evaluations and reviewing results with appropriate personnel; coordinating open houses and new nursing student orientation; teaching courses associated with medical-surgical content; serving on the Faculty Orientation, Leadership, and other appropriate nursing committees; and coordinating comprehensive and ATI testing programs.

Qualifications: Master’s degree in nursing required; a doctorate degree in nursing or related field preferred; and possess a minimum of two years of full-time experience in nursing, or its equivalent, within the last five years and evidence of competence in the area of medical-surgical nursing; and knowledge and skills related to clinical coordination of nursing students with healthcare affiliation sites, teaching adults, teaching methodology, curriculum development, evaluation, or willingness to plan for acquisition of these skills no later than the first year of hire; and current/unencumbered Massachusetts state RN license, healthcare provider CPR and immunizations as recommended by the Massachusetts Department of Health. Nursing education and clinical coordination experience preferred.

We are looking for teaching-scholars who have a strong desire for an academic appointment focused on advancing knowledge through the integration of teaching and experiential learning. The ability to serve as student mentors and create immersive learning and professional development experiences is necessary. Candidates will present strong evidence of successful teaching in the classroom.
