Position Overview: The Department of Computer Science at Merrimack College invites applications for the position of Chair at senior rank. The successful candidate will start in fall, 2019 and must demonstrate a record of excellence in teaching, research and academic leadership to merit tenure on appointment. The ideal candidate will be a visionary leader who will foster new academic initiatives, faculty development, funding opportunities, industry collaborations and strategic planning.
The College offers undergraduate degrees in the liberal arts, business, health sciences, science and engineering, and education; it also offers graduate programs. It is distinctive in that it has a School of Science and Engineering and as a member of the Computer Science Department, you will have opportunities for research and interdisciplinary collaborations and other initiatives with the Schools of Business, Liberal Arts, Health Sciences, Science and Engineering and Education.
Qualifications: Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science. While extremely strong candidates of all specialties will be considered, primary consideration will be given with specialties in Data Science, Security, and Artificial Intelligence. The new chair may be expected to lead a planned data science major.
