Position Overview:  Under the direction of the Library Director, the Instruction/Liaison Librarian and Archivist assesses, coordinates, and manages College Archives.  Under the direction of the Head of Instruction and Outreach, He/She will create instructional materials, conduct information literacy workshops, and provide collection development and other related library services to assigned areas.
Responsibilities:
  • Manages, administers, and provides access to historical materials and artifacts pertaining to the foundation and ongoing work of the College.
  • Organizes, describes, catalogs, maintains, and oversees digitization of archival materials. 
  • Assists with the development, management, evaluation, and promotion of collections in assigned subject areas.  Evaluates and accessions gifts of archival and other materials.
  • Develops, delivers, and evaluates general and course-integrated information literacy/ library instruction programs
  • Serves as primary liaison to subject area(s) faculty and users; creates Course Research Guides, Subject Guides, and other digital and print materials in assigned areas.
  • Provides specialized research consultations to McQuade Library users and visiting scholars.
  • Collaborates with professional library staff on library and archive policy development.
  • Member of Faculty Senate; Serves on faculty senate and other campus committees; Stays current with the field through on-going professional development.
  • Serves as contact and resource person for student assistants in the absence of an Access Services supervisor.
  • Performs related duties and special projects as required.
Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Library or Library and Information Science or Archives Management from  an American Library Association accredited institution.
  • Society of American Archivists or American Records Management Association certification or training preferred.
  • 3-5 years demonstrated successful experience in archives in an academic setting.
  • 3-5 years demonstrated success in teaching information literacy and creating instructional materials and guides.
  • A record of successful interaction with faculty,students, staff, and administrators in an institution of higher education. 
  • Collection development subject expertise. Digital humanities experience. Experience with training, supervising,and evaluating student workers preferred.
  • Knowledge of best practices in archive management and library instruction. 
  • Demonstrated abilities in teaching a variety of audiences.
  • Knowledge of information literacy concepts and competencies.  
  • Strong interpersonal skills as a team member of the Instruction/Liaison team in outreach, relationship building, and collaboration with faculty.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; strong customer service orientation. 
  • Understanding of, and experience with, assessment principles and best practices preferred.
