Position Overview & Responsibilities

The Department of Communication and Media invites applications for a full time, 12 month Non-Tenure-Track Professor of Practice in Media and Studio Coordination. The faculty member will have a 24 credits (6 courses)/year teaching load. These courses may include Pre- and Post-Production, Field Production, TV Production, Radio Production, and a to-be-developed digital media course for students entering the graduate program with minimal production experience. This faculty position includes some services to the college and requires service to the department. Service to the department includes troubleshooting and maintaining production facilities, forecasting an equipment replacement cycle, and holding production workshops in other department courses. This position also serves as the advisor to our student-run TV production organization, MCTV. This position begins no later than August 22, to prepare for the fall semester. The successful candidate must demonstrate potential for a record of excellence in teaching and service to a department, with an enduring responsiveness to changing trends in media industries and digital production practices.


  • M.A., M.S., M.F.A., or Ph.D. in media, media production, communication, or a related field.
  • Teaching experience (classroom, leading workshops, training others, etc.) is required and relevant professional experience is preferred.
