Position Overview & Responsibilities

The Department of Communication and Media seeks a full-time faculty member with expertise in Strategic Communication. Courses will span the undergraduate and graduate levels, serving the undergraduate Public Relations minor, B.A. in Communication and Media program, and M.A. in Communication program. Courses may include Introduction to Media, Principles of Public Relations, Crisis Communication, Social Media Strategy and Analytics, Global Strategic Communication, Writing for Strategic Communication, and Special Topics courses according to the person’s expertise and interest. This position includes professional development to maintain strategic communication skill sets.

Qualifications:

Applicants seeking an appointment as a tenured or tenure-track faculty member must hold a Ph.D. in Communication or a related field; non-tenure-track applicants must hold an MA or MS in Communication or a related field and have industry experience. Tenured and tenure-track faculty teach three courses (12 contact hours) per semester, maintain an active research program with the capacity to apply for and obtain external funding, and serve on departmental and college-wide committees; non-tenure-track faculty teach four courses (16 contact hours) per semester and provide service to the department.

The successful candidate will have teaching experience and relevant professional experience.
