Position Overview:  Under the leadership of the Director of Undergraduate Admission, the Senior Associate Director assists in the development, implementation and management of a strategic international enrollment plan including long range and short-term strategies in targeted markets. This position is responsible for managing the international student recruitment strategy and works closely with the Dean and Director on agreements and relationships with overseas consultants and agencies which increases interest and awareness of academic programs offered at Merrimack.

The international enrollment strategy at Merrimack College includes fostering partnerships with local schools, implementing recruitment and yield events, creating content and training materials designed to engage Merrimack’s partners, students, families, and secondary school counselors in the effort to recruit qualified students. While focusing on undergraduate, the Senior Associate Director is expected to know the full range of offerings at the College including undergraduate, graduate, online, and special programs. S/he will work collaboratively with campus colleagues to promote and support international programs and initiatives.

As a member of the admission team, the Senior Associate Director provides exceptional customer service to guide students, parents, and school counselors through the application process from prospect to matriculant. S/he will review and evaluate international student applications from schools outside the U.S., and partner agencies; verify credentials; provide guidance to students who do not meet English Language requirements; and serve as Designated School Official (DSO). S/he will be a strong supporter of professional development for staff members, ensure that they are well-trained and provide outstanding customer service to our constituents.

The Senior Associate Director, working collaboratively with members of the International Student Services office will develop and implement policies and procedures to help students through the process from enrolling to matriculated student in the areas of visa support, advising and pre-arrival communication. In addition s/he will advocate and assist Enrollment Marketing in the development and implementation of a robust international student communication flow. The Senior Associate Director position requires a highly motivated, team oriented problem solver able to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, target driven environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and manage a strategic international enrollment plan including long range and short-term strategies in targeted markets
  • Responsible for managing the international student recruitment strategy
  • Support the Dean and Director with overseeing and assessment of agreements and relationships with overseas consultants and agencies which increase interest and awareness of academic programs offered at Merrimack
  • Participate in on and off-campus international recruitment and yield activities designed to guide students from prospect to matriculant
  • Create content and training materials designed to engage Merrimack’s partners, students, families, and secondary school counselors in the effort to recruit qualified students
    while focusing on undergraduate, the position requires knowledge of the full range of offerings at the College including undergraduate, graduate, online, and special programs
  • Provide exceptional customer service to guide students, parents, and school counselors through the application process from prospect to matriculant
  • Review, evaluate and finalize admission decisions on applications from outside of the U.S. and partner agencies
    working collaboratively with members of the International Student
  • Services office, develops and implements policies and procedures to help students through the process from enrolling to matriculated student in the areas of visa support, advising and pre-arrival communication
  • Advocate and assist Enrollment Marketing in the development and implementation of a robust international student communication flow
  • Participate in all signature admission events including Academic Preview Day, Open House and Admitted Student Day as well as Welcome Center counselor coverage
  • Work collaboratively with campus colleagues to promote and support international programs and initiatives
  • Serve as Designated School Official (DSO)

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree in International Education or a related field preferred
  • 4-6 years’ experience working in international recruitment and admission preferred
  • Knowledge of English language proficiency testing exams, including TOEFL, IELTS and Pearson, preferred
  • Familiarity with SEVIS and F-1 student advising required.
  • Experience with Slate CRM and applicant management system preferred
  • Experience working, living, and/or studying in a foreign country preferred
  • Proficiency in a foreign language required. Arabic, Chinese, or
  • Spanish preferred.
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s license
  • Valid U.S. Passport or permanent residency required
