Nicholas McDonald

Nicholas McDonald has served in the Office of General Counsel since 2012, first as assistant general counsel, then legal counsel and, since January 2016, as vice president and general counsel.

In his current position, McDonald oversees all litigation issues involving the college, coordinates outside litigation counsel, reviews contracts and agreements between Merrimack and outside parties, monitors federal and state legislation to ensure the college is in compliance with its legal obligations, and advises the administration and board of trustees on all legal issues affecting the college.

He is a member of the college leadership team and serves in the president’s cabinet.

Prior to joining Merrimack, McDonald practiced law at the law firm Cetrulo & Capone, now known as Cetrulo LLP.

McDonald holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s degree in American government and international relations, both from Northeastern University, and a law degree from Suffolk University Law School.
