Path to Success

Student success, during your first year and beyond, depends on a variety of experiences, both academic and social.

Merrimack created the First Year Experience (FYE) program to support you during your critical first semester of matriculation, and help you explore the college community. With small classes and hands-on-activities, FYE encourages self-exploration, active engagement and understanding of the world.

In addition to the weekly classes, you will:

  • Attend campus activities ranging from group outings and athletic events to service opportunities and on-campus lectures.
  • Participate in the strengths-based leadership assessments
  • Meet with your FYE instructor, peer mentor and career counselor.
  • Participate in out of class events and activities specifically for first year students.

Completion of the FYE course is required for you to progress to your sophomore year. Incoming students who enter with fewer than 28 credits are required to successfully complete FYE.
