The Writing Center
The Writing Center offers free writing consulting services on a drop-in basis to all members of the college community.
Students make use of the Writing Center to grow more independent and confident in their academic, personal and professional writing. We work with writers at all levels because every writer can benefit from a thoughtful, informed reader’s response during the writing process.
The Writing Center provides help in a variety of areas, including:
- Understanding assignments
- Structure and organization
- Creating individual writing styles
- Citation styles
- Cover letters and résumés
- And much more!
Graduate Student Support
The Writing Center also serves the graduate student population of Merrimack College.
We offer specific graduate student hours in the center where a writing consultant trained to work at the graduate level is available to our students to utilize through drop-in or appointments.
The center also provides asynchronous online tutoring for graduate students. Unlike face-to-face tutoring and other online tutoring services where the tutor and the student actively chat and look over an assignment simultaneously, this particular service does not have an active chat feature and the revision and commenting that the tutor will perform will not occur in the presence of the student.
The Writing Center is on the third floor of McQuade Library, between the Math Center and Alden Lab.
