What You’ll Learn
In the women’s and gender studies program, you will:
- Examine the social, cultural and scientific construction of gender.
- Study the dynamics of gender relations and social change in the United States and throughout the world.
- Investigate how gender intersects with race, ethnicity, class, nation and sexuality.
- Gain a deeper understanding of women’s studies, feminist studies, gender studies, masculinity studies and sexuality studies.
Hands-On Learning
You’ll be able to participate in dynamic internships and directed studies programs that further issues like LGBTQ youth advocacy and high school anti-bullying policy. You can also broaden your experience by traveling to the Southwest and diving into fieldwork at Native American pueblos.
Career Options
Upon successful completion of the women’s and gender studies program, you’ll have a wide range of skills and a background in diversity which is highly valued in the 21st century labor force. You’ll also be well-equipped for graduate study in the fields of women’s/gender/sexuality studies or for advanced study in traditional disciplines and professional fields. Our graduates have become international gender specialists or found careers in law, education, social justice and human rights work, non-profit, psychology, business, media, publishing and more.
