Preparation for iOS Deployment
We are very excited about the opportunities that lie ahead with the Mobile Merrimack program, and we look forward to seeing you on campus.
In order to be able set up your iPad properly, it is critical that you already have an Apple ID and password. Your Apple ID gives you easy access to a variety of Apple services, including the iTunes Store, Apple Online Store, the App Store and more.
Please review the four scenarios below and follow the appropriate steps based on your situation. As you are setting up your Apple ID, please make sure that you have a credit card registered or purchase and redeem an iTunes gift card to ensure that you will be able to purchase apps that may be required for your courses.
Group 1
You already have an Apple ID and know both the Apple ID and associated password.
- Go to http://appleid.apple.com.
- Click on the “Manage your Apple ID” button.
- Login with your Apple ID and password to verify that your Apple ID and personal information is correct.Â
Group 2
You already have an Apple ID and know the Apple ID, but you don’t remember the associated password.
- Go to http://appleid.apple.com.
- Click on the “Reset your password” link.
- Enter your Apple ID and reset your password by selecting the appropriate authentication method.
Group 3
You may have an Apple ID, but you are unsure or you don’t remember the password.
- Go to http://appleid.apple.com.
- Click on “Find your Apple ID” link which can be found towards the bottom right corner of the page.
- Enter your First Name, Last Name and a current e-mail address to find out if you already have an Apple ID.
- If you do have an Apple ID, you will be prompted to reset the password by either answering the security questions that you setup when the Apple ID was created or by using a rescue e-mail address that is on file for you.
- If no Apple ID is found, follow the instructions provide for Group 4 below.
Group 4
You are certain that you have never created an Apple ID.
There are two methods that can be used to create an Apple ID:
- Method A (outlined below) will require you to enter personal credit card information when you download your first iOS app.
- Method B (outlined below) will not require you to enter credit card information when you download your first free iOS app, but you will need to use either an iPod Touch, iPhone, iPad or a computer (Mac or PC with the iTunes application installed) in order to create the Apple ID.
Method A
- Go to http://appleid.apple.com.
- Click the “Create an Apple ID” button and complete the form.
- We suggest using a personal (non-Merrimack) email to create your Apple ID
Method B
- Go to http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2534.
- Click the appropriate link for instructions on how to create an Apple ID based on whether you are using a computer with iTunes or an iOS device (iPod Touch, iPhone or iPad) to create the Apple ID.
- We suggest using a personal (non-Merrimack) email to create your Apple ID.
