To Media

COM 2401

This course focuses on the basic principles of mass communication and its historical development. Issues explored include media access, media ethics, media effects and current trends in the growth of digital and wireless mass communication technologies. Students examine the role of the media industry in reinforcing and challenging dominant values.

Fiction
Writing

ENG 3900

This course is designed for students interested in working with fiction writing. The first half of the course involves analyzing selected short stories and working with focused creative writing exercises. The second half of the course is set up as a fiction workshop with students presenting their fiction to small groups and to the class as a whole.

Visual
Storytelling

DES 2840

This course introduces students to the fundamentals of image-making to explore communication or storytelling, utilizing both digital technology and traditional techniques. Students develop an understanding of how meaning is constructed through the power of both words and images as well as experimental type and motion investigations.
