The Health Sciences and Spanish Major
Health sciences and Spanish is a major that will provide you with duality in the ever-changing job market! Learn how to deliver health science information and practices to the Spanish community. You’ll be ready to work with Spanish speaking populations and communities, or to continue your post undergraduate education with a strong Spanish cultural competency upon graduation.
What You'll Study
As a health sciences and Spanish major, you will take courses in the Department of Humanities and the School of Nursing and Health Sciences. Students who are Spanish native/heritage speakers are strongly encouraged to take the CLEP Spanish Exam, which can transfer up to three SPA courses (Intro and Intermediate).

This course focuses on health behavior theories and strategies to promote individuals’ healthy lifestyle. Students will explore and apply theoretically based principles and strategies to real-life cases. Emphasis is placed on improving students’ competency in both understanding of health behaviors in the modern world and designing interventions.

The following processes will be covered: Research question identification (including the steps from developing an idea to submitting an IRB packet to implementing your research plan) and hypotheses, literature searches, research design, evidence-based practice, research ethics, critical evaluation of research and presenting research.
