Engineering Graduate Assistantships are highly competitive programs that build and enhance your professional skills and defray tuition costs.

These assistantships provide tuition remission for highly qualified graduate students in exchange for work in an engineering academic department.  GAs are mentored by faculty to support their learning and strengthen their professional and leadership skills.  They also enjoy department activities, leadership and professional development opportunities.

Graduate Assistantships are offered in two engineering M.S. programs:

  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Civil Engineering

Each of the assistantships seeks to enrich students’ professional qualifications and help advance their career goals through valuable hands-on experience.  An interview is required (in-person or Skype), as are demonstrated leadership, academic, and communication skills.  Graduate Assistants must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credits per semester to be eligible for a fellowship.

Graduate Assistantships are available in two types:

Full Graduate Assistantship: This assistantship covers $20,000 of graduate tuition (excluding fees), while the graduate student works up to 25 hours per week in their academic department, assigned to a specific faculty member(s) during their two semesters of graduate work (one academic year).  An in-person interview is required, as are exceptional leadership, academic, and communication skills

Partial Graduate Assistantship: This assistantship covers $10,000 of graduate tuition (excluding fees), while the graduate student works up to 15 hours per week in their academic department, assigned to a specific faculty member(s) during their two semesters of graduate work (one academic year).  An interview is required (in-person or Skype), as are demonstrated leadership, academic, and communication skills.
