Students must arrive to line up at 12:30 p.m. at Hammel Court
Graduates should wear their robe for this ceremony; neither hood nor cap, nor cords or regalia should be worn. Honors Program Students should wear their honors medallions.
The annual spring Honors Convocation is a formal ceremony recognizing the achievements of our most academically accomplished students at the conclusion of their undergraduate experience at Merrimack College. We individually honor our soon-to-be graduates in a celebratory atmosphere that includes family and friends as well as staff and faculty members. During Honors Convocation our President, Provost /Vice President of Academic Affairs and our school administrators recognize our Presidential Scholars and Honors Program graduates.
Graduating as a Presidential Scholar
The Presidential Scholars designation is given to those students who have senior status, have completed a minimum of 104 credits at the beginning of the spring semester of their senior year, are included on the Registrar’s list of anticipated May graduates, and have a minimum GPA of 3.50.
Graduating from the Honors Program
The Honors Program, established in 2008 is designed to enhance and enrich the academic experience of talented, highly motivated students of Merrimack College. The program offers challenging classes, encourages, interdisciplinary approaches to learning, and provides opportunities for students to pursue independent study and research with individual faculty members. It can supplement academic degrees and majors in all departments and schools in the college.
Every aspect of Merrimack Honors – academic, extra-curricular, and social – is organized around the Four Pillars of a Merrimack Honors Education: Community, Service, Research, and Leadership. Students that graduate from the Honors Program are required to maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 every semester in addition to completing (8) honors courses in the four years of the program, including a Service Learning course their Sophomore year in addition to a Senior Capstone project.
