The department of world languages and cultural studies offers four minors.
A minor in French requires a minimum of 18 credits comprising a minimum of five courses in French with the FRE prefix.
Study Abroad in France
Students pursuing a minor French are strongly encouraged to spend one semester of foreign study at the Université catholique de l’Ouest in Angers, France. Please visit the Office of Global Education website for details.
A minor concentration in Italian requires a minimum of 18 credits comprising a minimum of five courses in Italian with the ITA prefix.
Study Abroad in Florence
Students pursuing a minor in Italian are strongly encouraged to spend one semester of foreign study in Florence, Italy. Please visit the Office of Global Education website for details.
An interdisciplinary minor with a concentration in Italian studies requires a minimum of 18 credits comprising a minimum of five courses. The minor consists of one year of the Italian language, i.e., ITA 1110 and ITA 1120, plus a combination of three language and/or culture courses.

A minor concentration in Spanish requires a minimum of 18 credits comprising a minimum of five courses in Spanish with the SPA prefix. Spanish minors are required to take SPA 3200 (Introduction to Advanced Studies) after they take SPA 3010 or SPA 3020 and before they proceed to upper-level courses. Depending on whether the course is being taught in spring or the fall, minors may be allowed to take an upper-level course before taking SPA 3200.
