Reimbursement Info for Spring 2020 Semester
Merrimack College has updated student accounts with reimbursements and credits for housing, food, parking and short-term study abroad.
Housing and Meal Plans
Merrimack College is providing housing and meal plan credits for the prorated cost of room and board from March 23, 2020 (the date on which the College limited students from returning to their residence halls) through the end of the spring semester. Students will be able to see their credit amounts today on myMack that will reflect both the prorated cost less a percentage of your Merrimack Scholarship or athletic financial award (if you receive it). Credit amounts will be reflected on your student account center over the next several days.
If the adjustment creates a credit on your spring semester student account, credits will be first applied to outstanding student account balances. For many students this will reduce or eliminate their current balance.
Graduating seniors can request a refund of a credit on their account by filling out a request form on MyMack through the Bursar’s office. Graduating seniors must fill out a refund request form within 30 days of the credit being applied to their student account. To find the form on MyMack: sign into MyMack, click Student Info, click Student Billing and click Refund Request Form found under forms.
All continuing students will receive a credit on their student account, net any outstanding balance. This credit will be applied towards Fall 2020 tuition, room and board.
CARES ACT
The CARES Act (Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act) provided institutions funds to assist students with COVID-19 related financial issues. The use of those funds can be disbursed to students over the course of twelve months. In light of the pro-longed impact this pandemic will have on the economy, Merrimack College will utilize these funds to assist students in the fall semester.
Addressing Financial Hardships
With the resolution of the room and board credit, we recognize that some of our students and their families may be facing financial hardship as a result of COVID-19 pandemic. Merrimack College has established a Student Emergency Fund for students seeking assistance during this trying time.
In addition, we know that some students will struggle because of the pandemic and the financial impacts they and their families may experience. Merrimack College is committed to working with students should this be a concern. Please know Merrimack is here to help. If you have a financial concern or hardship make sure you connect with the Financial Aid Office – who has been instructed to provide additional financial assistance as well as time to pay bills.
Please visit Addressing Financial Hardships for more information.
