We are excited to officially welcome our newest class of Merrimack Warriors to campus!

About Orientation

Fall Orientation is from Thursday, August 24, to Sunday, August 27, 2023. 

We have a full schedule of Orientation activities planned for you. You’ll get acclimated to campus, meet your fellow Warriors and have some fun.

Reference the schedule below to guide you through the daily sessions. Make sure you check your Merrimack email for more communication from the Orientation team. It will provide specific instructions regarding coming on to campus, parking, check-in locations, and more. For the most up to date locations please download CORQ and review the Orientation events.

New This Year: Decompression Zone

We will be offering a Decompression Zone between 9:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug, 25. This is an opportunity for students to take a break and practice some wellness activities before rejoining the Orientation sessions or groups.

Resident Student Move-In: Various Campus Locations
Students will check-in by swiping their Mack Card, receiving their room key, and settling in prior to the start of the Orientation sessions.
7:30 a.m.-5 p.m.
Mack Card Photos: Warrior One Stop
For students who have not received or lost their Mack Card.
9:30 a.m- 2:30 p.m.
Breakfast and Lunch: Sparky’s Place
Complimentary for students and their families.
10 a.m.-2 p.m.
iPad Pickup: Sakowich Campus Center 2nd Floor
Students who live in Monican Centre and students who are nursing majors will be able to pick up their iPads during this time.
3-4 p.m.
Merrimack Legacies Welcome: Arcidi Center
We honor incoming Legacy students carrying on a proud family tradition at Merrimack College. This includes those having a grandparent, parent, or sibling that has graduated or is currently attending Merrimack College. RSVP to the Office of Development and Alumni Relations is required.
4:30-6 p.m.
Welcome BBQ: O’Brien Plaza
Join the Merrimack College community for a Welcome BBQ to kick off Fall Orientation. Following the BBQ, students will say goodbye to their families and begin their Orientation events.
6-7 p.m.
Group Time: Various Campus Locations
Students will meet their Orientation Leaders in O’Brien Plaza before the start of the evening activities. Groups will be dismissed from the BBQ.
7-8 p.m.
Residence Hall Meetings
Resident students will meet by building with their Area Coordinators and Resident Advisors in the following locations:
  • Deegan East, Deegan West, Ash Centre: MPR
  • North Residential Village, South Residential Village, Apartments, Royal Crest, O’Brien Hall: McQuade Auditorium
  • Monican Centre, Townhouses: Rogers Center
8-8:30 p.m.
Meet your RA/Resident Advisor: Various Residence Hall Locations
Resident students should go to their residence hall floor to meet with their Resident Advisor and fellow hallmates to learn about resources and upcoming programs.
8:30 p.m.
First Class Bash: Monican Basketball Court
Join fellow classmates for games, giveaways, food, and other fun activities!

Opportunity for students who are feeling overwhelmed to take a break and practice some wellness activities before rejoining the Orientation sessions or groups.

  • Careers & Internships: McQuade Auditorium
    Join the O’Brien Center to learn how you can create your path to success. From joining student/academic organizations to preparing for an internship; the O’Brien Center and your advising team are here to support you. During this session, you’ll figure out what tools you can access 24/7, how to search for jobs (including on campus), and how to get an internship.
  • Athletics Opportunities: Rogers Center for the Arts
    Students will have an opportunity to hear from Athletics regarding opportunities involving the fitness center, club sports, intramurals, tickets for athletics events and more.
  • Student Involvement: Multipurpose Room, Sakowich Campus Center
5-7 p.m.
Dinner with your group: Sparky’s Place
5-6 p.m.
ASCEND: Unity House/Grass Area
The ASCEND Dinner is an event to welcome and support all BIPOC, First Generation, LGBTQIA+, students with disabilities and allies. During the dinner faculty, staff and student leaders who share these identities will be in attendance to engage with you and answer any questions you might have. The intention of this dinner is to provide a safe space for students to share their experiences and provide additional support in their transition to college
8-10 p.m.
Night Event: First Friday Festivities: Monican
The first TGIF at Merrimack! Join us in celebrating the end of the week with games like Mini Golf, and inflatable “Ax Throwing” and cool down for the weekend with a snowcone from Kona ice!

The talk of who is the best orientation group comes to an end with the Orientation Olympics. Work with your group to complete challenges and go head to head with the other orientation groups to settle this debate once and for all.

Night Event: Saturday School Spirit: Monican
Excited to be a Warrior? Show your Warrior Pride Saturday night by supporting or participating in tournaments, including 3v3 basketball, 2v2 cornhole, and 2v2 Kan Jam! There will also be other activities. Wear your MC swag to light up the court blue and gold.

Women’s Soccer Game vs. Stony Brook
What does it mean to be a warrior? To support our community! Join us in cheering on our Women’s Soccer team by making posters to show our school spirit and pride. Stony Brook won’t be able to see anything but blue and gold!

Dinner with Your Group: Sparky’s Place
6 p.m.
Mass: Austin Hall Chapel
Experience how the Merrimack community gives praise and thanks to God. Students of all faiths are welcome.

Campus Ministry Ice Cream Social: Gladstone Plaza
Enjoy an ice cream social sponsored by Campus Ministry and learn more about what they offer on campus.
