What are the dates for Fall Orientation?
The official dates for Fall Orientation this year are August 19-23. During this time, the Orientation team will be having programs for all incoming students. We will also be hosting other programming, both in-person and virtual, from the day students move in until the start of classes.
Is Fall Orientation mandatory?
Yes, orientation is mandatory for ALL incoming students. This includes residential, commuter, transfer and remote students.
When will I get my iPad?
You will receive your iPad during Fall Orientation. Remote students: we will send your iPad to your home address.
What should I expect to get out of Fall Orientation?
Orientation offers you the opportunity to learn more about Merrimack before starting classes in the fall. It is the perfect opportunity to ask questions and get to know your fellow classmates before starting classes. There will be informational sessions, as well as fun activities.
Will Fall Orientation be in person?
Orientation will be a hybrid experience due to COVID-19. Residential students will participate in person through a mix of in-personal small group opportunities and some virtual-only experiences. Commuters can choose to attend Orientation in person or virtually. Remote students will attend virtually.
Is there a Fall Orientation for parents?
There will not be a parent Fall Orientation session this year due to COVID-19. However, we will make recordings from our Virtual Orientation Session available on our website for parents and students to watch.

Do I have to register for Fall Orientation?
You do not need to register since all students are required to attend Fall Orientation.
For Commuter Students: You must let us know if you plan to participate in person with resident students or to participate remotely with our remote students. Please complete this short form to choose our in-person or virtual option.
How will I know where to go throughout Fall Orientation?
Each incoming student will be assigned to an Orientation group that is led by Orientation Leaders (OLs). OLs are upperclassmen students who are here to answer your questions and help you throughout your Fall Orientation experience. They will make sure you know where are going and how to contact them.

Is there a fee to attend Fall Orientation?
Merrimack College Orientation is free to students and their families! Unlike many other institutions, there is no fee to attend any of our Orientation sessions or programs.
Are there sessions for parents, family or guardians during Fall Orientation?
While there is no formal Orientation programming for parents, families, and guardians during Fall Orientation, loved ones are welcome and encouraged to join students for Move-In Day and help them get settled into their new home!
What is Merrimack’s community like? Is it easy to fit in?
Merrimack College is a very inclusive community and has so many different clubs and organizations on campus that there is something for everyone at the college. Students also have the freedom to start their own club if it is something they would like to see on campus.
What is the adjustment like when you arrive at Merrimack?
Adjustments are different for everyone, especially in college and especially as a transfer student. Merrimack has many support systems put in place to help all students adjust to their new lifestyle. Some of the support systems include Hamel Health and Counseling Center, the Academic Success Center, as well as Resident and Commuter Advisors.
How does housing selection work for transfers?
The housing selection process is run through the Office of Residence Life on campus. Students can make requests to live with other students if both parties agree to do so, otherwise Residence Life will place you in housing that is applicable to you as a student.
How do I know if my credits transfer over to Merrimack and if classes count towards my major?
To know these details students can visit their degree audit located on myMack as well as set up an appointment with their Advisors to go over these details. Every student at Merrimack is given an Academic Advisor in order to help with questions like this. You can find your Advisor’s name by also looking under Student Info on myMack.
Life on Campus
Is it easy to find a job on campus?
Every Merrimack student is set up with a Handshake account and can use their Merrimack login to access the site. Most on-campus jobs are posted here.
How can I get involved on campus?
Getting to know your peers and the orientation staff is a great start to making connections with different student organizations and clubs! The Office of Student Involvement also holds an involvement fair during the first couple weeks of the semester which is a great place to learn about what Merrimack has to offer.
What are the weekends like?
Merrimack College prides itself on not being a suitcase school. Most students stay at Merrimack through the weekends and the Office of Student Involvement runs at least one program every weekend.
Can I have a car on campus?
Resident students can apply to have their cars on campus. The lot is filled on a lottery system and is based on seniority. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
What kind of entertainment/restaurants are located off campus?
Merrimack is located next to many great food places. Right along Route 114 there is Bertucci’s, Panera Bread, Chipotle, Fuddreuckers, and Howling Wolf Taqueria. Merrimack is also near the Methuen Loop which is home to a movie theater, shopping centers, and grocery shopping. The Warrior Shuttle runs to these locations.
Are there any events that happen on campus during the year?
Merrimack has events throughout the entire school year but the two main events that happen on the entirety of the campus are Homecoming in the fall and Spring Weekend in the spring.
