Merrimack College’s Graduate Student Ceremony is on Friday, May 20, 2022, at 4 p.m. at Duane Stadium. A graduate ceremony reception will follow at O’Brien Plaza.

Commencement Tickets, Guests & Seating

Do I need tickets to the May 20 Graduate Commencement?

No, you do not need tickets to attend the May 20 Graduate Commencement.

Is there assigned seating for guests?

No, there is no assigned seating for guests. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.

If you are in need of accessible seating please speak with the volunteers who can direct you.

Do my guests have to be vaccinated to attend Commencement?

At this time there is no vaccination policy for guests planning to attend Commencement. The College reserves the right to amend this policy at any time.

Ceremony Details & Digital Programs

When and where is the 2022 Graduate Commencement ceremony?

Merrimack College’s Graduate Student Ceremony is on Friday, May 20, 2022, at 4 p.m. at Duane Stadium. A graduate ceremony reception will follow at 6 p.m. at O’Brien Plaza.

What time does the stadium open for Graduate Commencement on Friday, May 20?

Duane Stadium will open at 2 p.m. for guests attending Merrimack’s Graduate Commencement. 

How long is the Commencement ceremony?

The ceremony will last 90 minutes to two hours.

Will I walk across the stage?

Yes, all graduates will walk across a stage and their names will be read aloud.

Will there be Commencement program booklets?

Commencement program booklets listing graduates’ names will be distributed digitally this year. Please check the Commencement homepage before the ceremony for links to the digital programs.

Is there a place to watch the ceremony indoors?

The event will take place rain or shine outdoors. The event will be live-streamed on the web - www.merrimack.edu/commencement.

Will Commencement be livestreamed?

Will the event happen even if it rains?

Yes, the event will happen rain or shine. If there are extreme weather conditions, the College will communicate any changes.

Where can I buy flowers?

Flowers can be purchased in the tent on the lower pavilion at the back of Duane Stadium.

Where is your first aid station?

EMTs are stationed on the lower pavilion at the back of Duane Stadium.

Can I leave Duane Stadium and re-enter?

If you must leave the complex, your hand will be stamped to allow re-entry.

Where are the bathrooms?

The bathrooms are located next to the bleachers in Duane Stadium, and in the Merrimack Athletics Complex.

Can I bring strollers to Commencement?

While strollers are allowed in Duane Stadium on the track, they are not allowed onto the field.

Can I bring food and drink/ balloons into the stadium?

No, food and drink are not permitted in Duane Stadium during Commencement. Water will be available. We also do not allow balloons. 

Will the bookstore be open?

The bookstore will open throughout Commencement weekend.

Parking

Is there parking available on campus for the Graduate Commencement ceremony?

Parking for the Graduate Commencement on Friday, May 20, will be available on campus. You do not need a parking pass. You will be directed to parking throughout campus.

Is there accessible parking?

If you or a member of your party has a disability that requires special parking accommodations, please notify Merrimack Police or a parking attendant when you arrive onto the campus. You will be directed to drop-off points and for holders of state-issued parking decals, to parking locations.

Photography

Will there be a professional photographer taking photos?

Merrimack has professional photographers who will be taking individual photos of each graduate as they cross the stage. Photos will be available approximately one week after your ceremony:

  • Click “Commencements”
  • Find Merrimack College
  • View and order your prints

Can I get closer to the stage to take my own photographs of my graduate?

No, all personal photos must be taken from your seating location. Professional photography will be available for purchase.

Regalia, Cords & Diplomas

How do I get my cords?

Students who have qualified for academic honors have been sent information on how to get cords from the College.

How and when do I pick up my cap and gown/regalia?

If you have not yet picked up your cap and gown, you can do so at the Warrior One Stop (1st floor of Austin Hall) any weekday from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. If you are unable to make it during these times you can pick up your regalia at the student lineup directly before the ceremony.

When and where will we get our diplomas?

Diplomas will be mailed to each student’s home address at the beginning of June. If there have been any changes to your mailing address, students should make sure their current address is on file with the Warrior One Stop.

Accessibility

Is there accessible seating for guests?

Accessible seating will be available on the field and in the lower bleachers. Ushers will direct guests to the designated areas.

Please note: There will be Commencement staff members available throughout campus to assist guests with questions.

Do you have a wheelchair for someone in my party to borrow?

We have a limited number of wheelchairs to loan. They are located at the stadium.

Will closed captioning and an ASL interpreter be available at Commencement?

Yes, we will offer closed captioning and an ASL interpreter at Commencement.
