March 23: Collecting Personal Items Update
Dear Merrimack College Students,
We hope your first day of Remote Learning was successful.
Today, Governor Charlie Baker issued an emergency order requiring all businesses and organizations within the state of Massachusetts that do not provide “COVID-19 Essential services” to close their physical workspaces and facilities beginning Tuesday, March 24th at noon until Tuesday, April 7th at noon.
As a result of this order, Merrimack College has made the following additional decisions in order to abide by this new order, as well as to continue to do our part in mitigating the spread of COVID-19. All decisions are in effect beginning Tuesday, March 24th at noon.
Students Collecting Essential Personal Items. The vast majority of residential students have already come to campus to pick up essential personal items from their residence hall. A very small number of students had previously scheduled time to come to campus this week as well. Based on the Governor’s announcement, students who have not collected essential personal items or items of necessity should prioritize collecting those materials before Tuesday, March 24th at noon. Those students who need to pick up essential items must contact the Dean of Students to schedule an appointment. These appointments will be limited and reserved only for those in need of items of absolute necessity.
For those students who need materials for their classes, and can no longer access the campus, please reach out to the Task Force. The College will send an announcement to students when the campus will be reopened. The earliest possible date that would happen based on the emergency order is April 7, 2020, at noon.
We are sorry that this order has changed our schedule, it was sudden and we appreciate everyone’s patience and adherence to this new emergency order by the Governor.
