At our Spring Open House, you'll attend academic breakout sessions, connect with members of our community, and take a tour of our beautiful New England campus.
As a sport management major, you will learn how to apply marketing, finance and management principles to the world of sports. No matter what sector of the sport industry you wish to pursue, you’ll emerge well-prepared for a position that puts you in the middle of the action.
In this course, students will use financial and economic analysis to study a wide variety of issues affecting the sport industry including player contract structures, methods of determining team valuation, the effects of free agency and the collective bargaining processes on player salaries.
Students will explore unique aspects of the sport industry, marketing to sport consumers and consider the unique challenges facing sport marketers, most notably a lack of control over the core product. Topics include promotion, event sponsorship, consumer behavior and brand management.
This course examines the legal issues that arise from the areas of amateur and professional sports. Areas of study include, but are not limited to: constitutions and legal enactments, policy making in sport management, case law related to administrative, constitutional, contract, labor and product liability.
