Position Overview

Under the direction of the Facilities Director and/or his/her designee, the Grounds Manager will be responsible for the leadership of grounds crew operations and maintenance of the college’s landscape. The Grounds Manager will work closely with the Facilities Director and facilities staff to effectively meet the physical needs of the college and support its overall mission.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for maintenance, care, and condition of all campus grounds, gardens, athletic fields, walkways, parking lots, and roads.
  • Perform all turf care cultural practices like fertilizing, irrigating, aerating, and overseeding.
  • Planting of seasonal flowers in campus flower beds and flower pots.
  • Leaf clean up in the Spring and Fall.
  • Manage the snow removal process of plowing, shoveling, and salting to provide safe conditions for all roads and walkways during inclement weather.
  • Responsible for fleet maintenance and repairs needed.
  • Disposal of all campus trash and recycling.
  • Manage and monitor grounds employee performance in compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement
  • Prepare budget estimates and monitor expenses against budget allocations
  • Serve in the on-call campus rotation. Responding to and resolving after-hours and emergency campus calls on the phone or in person when matters require direction or decision.
  • Special project as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma is required
  • An Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree is preferred
  • Able to work well and communicate with others.
  • Able to use equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Higher education, or multi-building property management is preferred.
  • 5 years of managerial experience is required.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
  • A pesticide license is required
  • A Class 2A Hoisting license required

Vaccinations and Work Location 

This is an on-campus position as employees are essential in order to provide a fully on-campus, residential college experience for our students and the community.
