Position Overview

Merrimack College seeks an IT Budget Support Analyst to assist with daily budget operations.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Supports the development/set-up and maintenance of the annual budget process within the Questica system, including setup of training environment, data audits, pre-system opening reporting, post-system closing reporting.

  • Daily maintenance of the Questica system including log clean-up, troubleshooting, user and group security set-up. Creates, maintains, and performs scheduled tasks and processes required to keep Budget systems running smoothly, efficiently and effectively.  Recommend and make major modifications to Questica budget and position management systems.

  • Create and update import/export of data from/to various feeder systems and applications. Query (Microsoft SQL) databases and generate reports.

  • Supports the Position Control Reporting System to conform with pre-established guidelines as determined in the operating budget for salaries and wages.

  • Performs ad hoc reporting, financial and statistical comparative analyses, variance analyses, trend information, benchmarking, and statistical models for Budgeting office for department managers with guidance from VPFP and other team members.

  • Design standardized financial reports for budgeting group and departmental managers.

  • Design reports to review cost and spending patterns for identification of discretionary spending for reallocation of resources.

  • Assist VPFP and budget analysts in designing divisional/programmatic P&L/responsibility center management models (RCM) and reports.

  • Maintains in an organized manner all budget-supporting backup in various media for review.

  • Provides training/education of the Questica budget tool on an ongoing basis to new managers.

  • Liaison with relevant management staff, departments, and vendors to troubleshoot issues within assigned functional areas related to accounting and information systems.  Maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with process owners, technical and functional team members, and business partners.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required in MIS, Accounting, Computer Science or a related field.

  • Knowledge of Data analytic Tools such as Python, Tableau, SAS, Microsoft BI

  • Familiarity with SQL, Visual BASIC, advanced Excel functions (VLOOKUP, INDEX,Pivot Tables)

  • Ability to look programmatically across the College to build/review complex budget and responsibility center management reports and models.
