Giving thanks by feeding ‘less fortunate’

Last year’s food drive collected 92 Thanksgiving baskets and Zajicek is hoping to top that this year.

Her volunteer team is collecting baskets outside Cascia Hall Tuesday Nov. 24 from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. for delivery to Neighbors in Need.

Anyone who wants to donate but can’t put together a team to build a basket can make financial donations to Zajicek’s office or Sodexo. Zajicek will combine financial donations to pack additional baskets.

Baskets have the Thanksgiving staples such as turkey, stuffing, fresh fruits and vegetables. The average cost of a basket is estimated at under $40, Zajicek said.
