Merrimack to Induct First Hall Class Since 2004

Merrimack College will relaunch its Athletics Hall of Fame at a special ceremony next month by inducting its first new class in more than a dozen years.

The Oct. 12 event will mark the college’s first Hall of Fame inductions since 2004, as well as the establishment of a Merrimack Athletics Hall of Fame Gallery, which will honor past recipients.

All current members of the hall and their families will be invited back to campus for the ceremony, during which the Hall of Fame Class of 2017 will officially be announced. The event will serve as the unofficial kickoff of Homecoming Weekend, scheduled for Oct. 13-15.

“This is one of our many initiatives to perpetuate the memory of those individuals who have brought distinction, honor and pride to Merrimack College,” President Christopher Hopey said.

“The return of the Hall of Fame will give us the opportunity to celebrate former student-athletes, coaches and teams who were part of so many great accomplishments,” added Director of Athletics Jeremy Gibson. “We also are thrilled to enshrine new members who, over the years, have helped build our rich history of athletics at Merrimack College.”

The Hall of Fame was established to honor those individuals who have distinguished themselves and the college through their involvement in and/or support of Merrimack’s athletic department.
