James Wood to be Writer-in-Residence at the Writers House

Long-time “New Yorker” magazine staff writer and author James Wood is visiting Merrimack College Oct. 16-18 as the Writer-in-Residence at the Writers House.

During his time as writer-in-residence, Wood is scheduled to meet with students during classes, writing workshops, and interviews. He will offer a reading and discussion of his work that is free and open to the public at 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18 at the Writers House.

Wood is a professor of practice of literary criticism at Harvard University and widely considered the preeminent literary critic of his generation. His works include “Upstate” and “The Book Against God,” as well as “How Fiction Works;” and the collections of essays “The Broken Estate” and “The Irresponsible Self.”

The Writer-in-Residence program is made possible with generous support from the Andrea ’79 and Ken Robertson Writers House Innovation Fund.
