Dr. Ana C. Silva is Associate Professor of Finance and Founding Director of the Financial Capability Center at Merrimack College. She has more than 20 years of experience educating undergraduate and graduate students at universities in Spain, Mexico, Chile and the US. Her research has been published in academic and practitioner-oriented journals such as the Journal of Banking and Finance, Emerging Markets Review, and Journal of Applied Corporate Finance, among others. Her current research is focused on financial inclusion and building financial capability for under-served populations. Ana’s passion is to find better ways to integrate insights from finance, economics, psychology and other social disciplines to serve the most vulnerable members of society. She currently serves as board president of ACT Lawrence (Lawrence, MA) and board member of Capital Good Fund (Providence, RI), both are community development organizations dedicated to financial empowerment. Her work advancing financial inclusion in the community has earned several local, state, and national awards. Dr. Silva received her Ph.D. in Financial Economics from the University of Houston, MBA from the Madrid Business School, and B.Sc. from the Complutense University of Madrid, Spain.
