Associate Professor Craig W. Looney joined the Physics Department in fall 1998. He holds a Ph.D. and A.M. in physics from Washington University in St. Louis and a B.S. in physics from Gonzaga University. Dr. Looney’s early research involved the use of high pressure – thousands or even tens of thousands of atmospheres – to investigate superconductors and novel magnetic materials. His current interests include the interpretation of quantum mechanics and other issues at the intersection of science and philosophy. He enjoys playing basketball , ultimate, and pretty much any sport that involves some combination of running, throwing, catching, or kicking.
