As director of placement and field-based experiences, Maureen Lee-Locke provides support and guidance for aspiring teachers who plan to seek licensure as a Massachusetts public-school teacher. These programs of study include field-based experiences (pre-practicums and practicum) opportunities that allow for a bridging of theory and practice.

In her role, she provides guidance and direction for completing the Massachusetts teacher tests (MTEL) requirement, coordinator of MTEL workshops and helping students satisfactorily complete the state requirements of an approved teacher licensure program, to support students seeking a license from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

Prior to joining Merrimack, Lee-Locke worked for 14 years as a program specialist in the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education’s offices of educator preparation and leadership and career/technical education. She also taught for 25 years at local community colleges and private colleges in Boston and worked in management roles within hospitality industry.
