Dr. Tannebaum joined the Merrimack faculty in the fall of 2015 as an assistant professor of education in social studies. Prior to coming to Merrimack, he attended Clemson University in South Carolina where he completed his doctoral degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in social studies. His dissertation – Exploring the Associations Preservice Social Studies Teachers Make Between Democratic Education and Discussion as a Pedagogical Approach: A Multi Case Study – sought to explore the extent to which preservice social studies teachers associated the use of discussion with broad principles of democratic education. His current research focuses on the development of reform-oriented social studies teachers through powerful teacher education.
