Dr. Bandeira de Mello earned a Ph.D. and M.Sc. from Federal University of Santa Catarina and a bachelor’s in engineering from Federal University of Ceara. He has been a visiting doctoral student at the Wharton School, University of Paris-Dauphine and MIT, and most recently was associate professor of strategy at Getulio Vargas Foundation, a business school and think tank in Brazil. He has published in the Journal of Business Research, World Development, and Computers and Education. His research interests focus on market and nonmarket sources of competitive advantage, particularly, the integration between competitive and political strategies for achieving superior performance, and the diversification and international expansion of business groups and conglomerates.
