American Catholicism in Boston

In this class we will explore the story of American Catholicism by examining the stages of the Church in Boston, from colonial to present times. Focusing on historical, theological, cultural, social, and political issues, and by paying particular attention to the role of immigrants, students will explore how the Church developed and changed in Boston, and how Boston developed and changed because of the Church. While this asynchronous course is offered fully online, students will virtually visit Boston landmarks to understand the impact of Catholicism in Boston. (Fulfills History Req. of LS Core)
